Jean-Philippe has a bachelor’s degree in law (with high honours) from the University of Ottawa, and a graduate degree in notarial law from the University of Montreal. He was on the Dean’s List for his excellent academic record, and is a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society. He has also been listed in the roll of the Order of Notaries of Quebec since 2014. His practice focuses specifically on condominium law, real estate law and business financing. He is also active in the region’s business community. Jean-Philippe’s practice is focused on developing condominium real estate projects, and putting legal structures and agreements in place in the context of acquiring, developing, financing and selling real estate, particularly in divided co-ownership. Jean-Philippe has taken part in a variety of large-scale projects in the Mont-Tremblant and Laurentians regions.
What’s your favourite musical group?
I like lots of types of music, but my current obsession is Half Moon Run, an alternative rock group from Montreal.
How do you combine work and family?
Building a business is not always easy. However, despite all the energy that must be put to ensure VSB Notaires will thrive, I draw great strength from the quality moments spent with my family.
What is your vision for Mont-Tremblant’s future?
Every morning when I wake up, I feel fortunate to live in the Laurentians—especially in Mont-Tremblant. The future of the region is very promising; there are a number of visionaries who are helping it grow. It’s an honour for me exercise my profession, in such a flourishing region, and to work alongside important economic players for the greater Mont-Tremblant region.
When talking about a co-ownership project, in the region, Jean-Philippe is the man!
Jean-Philippe is very creative, he has developed an expertise to help real estate developers to perform with their projects beyond their expectations.

Jean-Philippe knows that it’s important to strike a balance to avoid getting overwhelmed by work and stress, which often happens when you’re a young entrepreneur. Music and sports are his escapes.
When he was about 5 or 6, his dad taught him to play drums while listening to CCR. He’s held onto his drumsticks since!
Downhill skiing, running, biking, swimming, badminton and ping pong (yes, that too!) allow him to destress.
In a philosophy class in cégep, the teacher asked him to argue for his definition of happiness. To Jean-Philippe at that time, happiness meant fulfilling his passions. So he left school to pursue his passion: music.
Soon, Jean-Philippe realized he had made an impulsive decision. To fully taste happiness, he needed to be in a setting where the rules are clear. In music, there is no real framework to work with.
No matter his choices, his parents refrained from judgment and supported him. After talking to them and reflecting on his situation, he came to a conclusion: he wanted to get back on the right track.
When he visited the notary office where his mother was working at the time, and talked with people there, he had a revelation. The notary profession fits with his vision of the world: when notaries know the rules, they can establish legal ties between different parties and explain what they can legally do or not.
Thus began Jean-Philippe’s comeback. After cégep, he studied law and discovered a passion for business and constitutional law, which led him to specialize in a specific field: co-ownership law. At this point, he knew he was in exactly the right place. This branch of the notary profession allows him to come up with creative, innovative solutions for his clients within a clear and well-established legal framework.
After he left university, he was hired by a firm. There, he met Timothée and Catherine, two young notaries with just as much enthusiasm as him. When two experienced colleagues left the firm, the three of them became more involved. They quickly realized that their values and vision of the notary profession were polar opposites from those well established in the firm.
After an unsuccessful attempt to take over the firm, they struck out into the abyss to found their own company.
With some tireless hard work to create a company in their image, the three notaries put together the guiding principles to form the framework of VSB Title Attorneys. Today, after he finishes a meeting and shakes hands with a client, he feels proud, because he has given the best of himself and come up with a solution tailored to his client’s needs. And has he aptly puts it, that feeling is priceless.
Since he’s become an entrepreneur, Jean-Philippe better understands the emotions that his clients go through, because he has gone from theory to practice. Every time, he asks the following question: "If it were my project, what would I do?"
